Job Summary

Under limited supervision, implement various actuarial analysis, programs, and procedures to support the preparation of reports and assist in the formulation of recommendations regarding personal and /or commercial products. Communicate findings to actuaries, management, and others. May work in valuation/reserving, pricing, capital, product development, research/support, business planning, finance, etc.


Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Maintain status in Actuarial Student Development Program
  • Provide support to actuaries and others by performing analysis within a designated business segment/s to assist business decision making, financial planning, and strategy development
  • Assist in the preparation of more complex reports and studies; Present findings and exhibits to peers and others
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all analysis and recommendations
  • Provide clear and concise communication of technical work to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Retrieve, understand and manipulate data and perform rigorous validation as it relates to assigned and related projects
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation of methods and activities
  • Provide technical assistance and information to other departments
  • Provide guidance and training to less experienced actuarial staff
  • Assist in the creation, maintenance and improvement of actuarial tools
  • Attend internal actuarial meetings
  • Complete required training and ensure work is performed in line with policies, guidelines and procedures
  • Answer questions and provide guidance related to assigned projects
  • Maintain a high level of customer support with high level work



  • Minimum 2.1 honours analytical degree ideally in actuarial or statistical studies
  • Demonstrate recent progress of passing Actuarial exams
  • Commitment to achieving qualification in the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or equivalent


Experience & Knowledge

  • Minimum 1-3 years relevant experience required
  • Prior experience and knowledge of basic actuarial techniques and standards and insurance operations



  • Highly motivated with a genuine interest in learning about GI Pricing
  • Proven math and analytical skills, as normally acquired through the pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or related field
  • Strong computing skills. Knowledge of SAS will be an advantage
  • Programming Skills desirable
  • Ability to exercise discretion, and apply independent judgment and critical thinking skills in execution of assignments
  • Solid oral and written and presentation communication skills
  • Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Ability to balance multiple projects with some direction
  • Ability to build simple models
  • Good problem solver that can comfortably tackle different business problems
  • Focussed on the timely delivery of accurate results
