Location: Regional based role – Munster, part Leinster


Job Summary

Responsible for the day to day management of brokers which includes:

  • communication of trading targets
  • encouraging the retention of existing business and pipeline prospecting for new business
  • helping to close higher value orders
  • attracting and verifying major opportunities, removing barriers and inefficiencies
  • developing excellent relationships with colleagues in the underwriting teams

This role will require regular call outs to brokers to build senior influential relationships.
The job holder will be involved in planning, expected to share and develop best practice, and resolve competing broker conflict.


Key Tasks & Responsibilities

Plan Delivery

  • Drive the day-to-day trading activity and service ethos, motivating a positive response to new opportunities, new business and client retention efforts as appropriate
  • Provide timely and accurate trading performance reports
  • Delivery of financial targets at broker level

Broker Management

  • The establishment, maintenance and development of the broker development plan and strategy
  • Liaise with brokers regularly and foster positive relationships including out of office hours entertaining, in support of business retention and acquisition
  • Close liaison with the leaders of the partner functions of Underwriting, Marketing and Claims

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Ensure that all team members are compliant with risk and regulatory requirements including maintenance of weekly / monthly control framework
  • Ensure timely responses to Risk and Compliance issues / queries
  • Ensure quality control measures are actioned by way of corrective action following risk reviews and peer review findings

Employee Engagement

  • Provide guidance to others and proactively support the development of self and others
  • Coach staff on effective sales techniques



  • Bachelor's Degree
  • CIP accreditation (ACII preferable). CPD compliant


Experience & Knowledge

  • Minimum 5 years of sales management experience
  • Specific territory planning experience for a large business and a panel of up to 100 key customers on a visit out basis preferred
  • Able to devise and implement strategy, and create and monitor plans and budgets
  • Strong relationship building skills and a willingness to network and cultivate relationships with new and prospective customers for the benefit of the business
  • Understanding of insurance company financials, and a firm focus on creating profit and value
  • Sound knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices and procedures
  • Ideally has a solid understanding of property, liability and fleet insurance products and can discern and articulate their sellable features and benefits

  • Ability to adapt to evolving techniques and changing business challenges
