Liberty International European Holdings, S.L.U. (LIEH) is an intermediate insurance holding company of a sub-group of Liberty international entities. LIEH is currently comprised of insurance companies with presence (through companies and/or branches) in the following countries: Spain, Ireland, Portugal, Luxembourg, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Malaysia, Hong Kong, India, Russia, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Netherland and Switzerland.
LIEH focuses on monitoring and oversight of the Sub-Group regarding compliance and
regulatory changes, risk management, business performance, financial and solvency position.

Job summary

LIEH is recruiting a Risk Specialist to assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of the Sub-group’s Risk Management System.
This position will report to the LIEH Risk & Governance Manager within the LIEH Risk Function. The role will include analysis of key risks and the development of risk standards, processes and policies in accordance with Solvency II Group requirements.  The role will require engagement with stakeholders in Liberty Mutual Group; GRM and GRS Strategic Business Units; LIEH subsidiary entities and external parties. The role will provide the successful candidate with valuable experience in terms of technical development and management exposure. Some travel may be required. 

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the LIEH Risk Management Framework
  • Assist in the roll-out of the LIEH Risk Management System to the Sub-group’s entities
  • Undertake annual review of the relevant risk policy documents and update for relevant changes (external, internal); Undertake annual compliance with policy review
  • To undertake risk reviews or risk assessment reviews
  • Update of LIEH Risk registers
  • Assist with development of risk appetite tolerances and key risk indicators
  • Reporting and monitoring of Key Risk Indicators and Risk Appetite metrics and engagement with relevant stakeholders
  • Support the subsidiary entities through risk consultancy or other risk services as required
  • Identify, develop and implement risk management best practices and process improvements
  • Preparation of risk reporting for Board Risk Committee purposes
  • Complete ad hoc reports and manage ad-hoc risk projects


  • Professional qualification in Accountancy or Third Level Degree in Business or Accounting 

Knowledge & Experience

  • Prior experience in Financial Services/Insurance industry
  • Knowledge on quality assurance/control testing
  • Knowledge on Corporate Governance obligations for companies operating in the Financial Service/Insurance industry
  • Intermediate (or above) level of proficiency in MS Office Suite (especially Powerpoint)


  • Highly motivated with an ability to demonstrate creative problem-solving and analytical skills within a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills with an ability to work with diverse groups including legal, sales, operations and senior management
  • Very strong research & collaboration skills
  • Ability to represent the Company publicly and with confidence
  • Flexibility to travel as required
