Job summary

Performs various support duties and processes insurance transactions, such as responding to internal and external requests for information and preparing documents, interpreting policy information and files for additional handling by other associates and generating updates to the estimate. Performs other related support duties as requested, such as answering phones, processing mail, issuing payments and generating claim associated documents and assisting customers and contractors. Follows procedures and applies advanced-level administrative skills and intermediate level insurance knowledge with the analytical ability to accomplish both routine and non-routine tasks and duties.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

The Claims Assistant will take personal responsibility for own workload, continually reorganizing and prioritizing tasks to ensure key company objectives are met. Processing claims in line with procedures and compliance standards. Managing and maintaining the best practice procedures for claims handling.

The Claims Assistant should be proactive, enthusiastic, thrive on taking responsibility in a fast pace team-based environment. Assist in the creation of new applications/processes and the development of reference and resource materials. Complete ad-hoc projects as assigned to them.

  • Reviews, evaluates and categorizes incoming Property evaluation products, verifies information for accuracy/appropriateness and follows up with others for missing or questionable data, prepares and assembles documents for claim processing, or for additional handling by other associates. 
  • Issues customer payments per templated adjuster instructions. 
  • Enters and retrieves information of varying complexity using computer systems and applications to update records, obtain information for others and respond independently to most questions and problems with adjusters and verification questions with customers and vendors.
  • Handles complex Recoverable Depreciation claims which includes reviewing any variance of approved coverage and providing any additional pricing recommendation. May reach out to 3rd party professional contractors to gather more technical details on work completed related to the claim.  Reviews any variance of what is included in loss and makes recommendation to adjust payment. 
  • Uses advanced skills and business knowledge to prepare correspondence and process other insurance transactions to provide customer service and support efforts. 
  • Performs other related support duties as requested, such as answering phones, processing mail, assisting customers, scanning, photocopying and insurance check processing. 
  • Demonstrates subject matter expertise and continuously builds product, procedural and technical systems knowledge. Assists with departmental training and communication as needed. May assist with quality reviews related to training/transition of work. Mentors new hires by providing onboarding support in coordination with onboarding supervisor.

  • APA Qualified / CIP qualification desirable
  • Minimum 2 years claims experience
  • Strong computer skills & proven administration skills with the ability to navigate multiple systems essential

Please note if successful, candidates primary place of work will be their residential address however it is a condition of employment that employees may be required to carry out their work at an alternative place of business as directed by the Company in order to fulfil the duties of their respective roles (Cavan or Blanchardstown offices).
Successful candidates will be required to complete an 8 week training programme which will be conducted from 12.00pm to 8.00pm Monday to Friday for the duration of the Training Programme. Thereafter working hours will revert to the standard business hours as outlined in the Contract of Employment.

Interviews will commence week starting 1 February 2021 and successful candidates will commence the 8 week Training Programme week starting 5 April 2021.
