It may have been a washout of a weekend but we didn’t let a little bit of rain stop the fun at the Camogie All Stars Awards last Saturday, 7th November, in the Citywest Hotel.

Red and maroon dominated the All-Stars

One of the highlights of the sporting calendar, it’s always a great night when we get to acknowledge and celebrate those players who have made outstanding contribution to a hard-fought season.

This year’s All Star team selection was awash with red and maroon, with All Ireland Champions Cork and finalists Galway each having seven players in the All Star selection.

This year the awards were presented by Camogie Association President Catherine Neary, Judy Mullane of Liberty Insurance and guest speaker Brent Pope. Brent spoke passionately about the learnings from his sporting background, and about how important the three key pillars of leadership, communication and goal-setting are to achieving success on the sporting field.

Cork manager Paudie Murray received the Liberty Insurance Manager of the Year award after guiding his county to successive All-Ireland titles.

All the All-Star winners this year received a specially commissioned piece of work by sculptor Jarlath Daly, as well as a commemorative jersey and a €500 discount on a Liberty Insurance policy.

Entertainment was provided by The Hit Machine and Mundy, and like any good party there was a sing-song! Mundy raised the roof with crowd pleaser ‘Galway Girl’ which had everyone up dancing, the perfect ending to a great championship season.

Congratulations to all nominees and winners. We look forward to an exciting 2016 championship season #camogieallstars #supporthersport.
