Liberty Insurance dac in Ireland ("Liberty") is the registered data controller for personal information collected from you.
We will use the information subject to data protection laws for various purposes. In summary, this includes but is not limited to managing and handling your insurance queries, underwriting and claims handling. We may use an anonymised form of it for various purposes. We may check the information against public sources (such as the electoral roll and court judgments bankruptcy or repossession and other insurance industry databases) and this may involve carrying out bankruptcy/judgment debt checks, fraud prevention, anti-money laundering and counter terrorism financing checks, subject to data protection law and with your consent if required. We may directly or indirectly share the information with other insurers, the Garda Síochána and other law-enforcement agencies, government agencies and/or regulatory authorities, as applicable. In addition, we may pass the information and claims history to agents, service providers, other Liberty Mutual Group companies, regulatory organisations, and to certain other third parties.
We share information with the Insurance Link database, run by Insurance Ireland. This information includes identification details and the nature of any damage suffered by anyone involved in a claim, in some cases including types of injuries. This information may be shared with other insurers and/or statutory authorities
The purpose of engaging in this insurance industry service is to help us authenticate information provided to prevent fraud and protect customers and to assess information at underwriting stage. This helps prevent multiple claims on the same injury or damage, assists in investigating fraud and the integrity of information provided. Where previous claims are identified through Insurance Link, insurers may exchange additional information on those claims, more information is available on Insurance Link at their website, which is listed below.
We may use the information you provide to get information from the National Vehicle and Driver File held by the Department of Transport.
We may contact you with a reminder that your insurance is due to be renewed. This contact may be made by a number of communication methods in addition to traditional correspondence, see below. We will use the details you have given us to provide information about our products and services and those of other companies in the Liberty Mutual Group and other companies whose products and services may interest you. However, we will not do so if you have already told us you do not want this information. We may also use your information for these purposes after your policy has ended, unless you ask us not to.

By going ahead with a Liberty insurance quote or policy or by giving us personal information including sensitive personal information (as more particularly described in our Security and Privacy Statement) you will be explicitly agreeing to us, our agents, other insurers and the other persons described in this notice (and/or in the Security and Privacy Statement) processing it for all relevant purposes including but not limited to those described in this notice. Before you provide us with any information about others, you should make sure they are aware of how we will use their information and have agreed to this. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have obtained the permission of any such persons and have shown this notice to them to allow us to process their personal data for the purposes outlined in this notice.
