All our private motor policies come with breakdown assistance and home start as standard so even if you break down in your driveway, we’ll be there.

With more and more of us taking our car abroad for the holidays, it’s great to know that we’ll extend your cover to the same level you use at home. We provide the minimum cover you need by law to use your car in any EU country - or any other country which has made arrangements to meet the minimum insurance requirements of the Commission of the European Union. The cover lasts for up to 93 days. While you are using your car abroad however, driving other cars and breakdown assistance do not apply.

Making a Claim

What happens if I am involved in an accident?
If you’ve been in an accident, call us at any time of the day or night, 365 days a year. Give us the details of what happened, and we’ll talk you through every step of your claim.
As well as calling us, you should also follow these steps:
- Take pictures of the cars at the accident scene
- Notify An Garda Síochána immediately
- Note the insurance and contact details of the other parties involved
- Note the names, addresses and phone numbers of any independent witnesses
- Do not admit liability

What happens if my car is stolen?
As soon as you’ve got over the initial shock, your first step should be to call us to report the incident. We’re here to help 24/7, 365 days a year.
You should also follow these steps:
- Complete a motor theft report form (available at the bottom of this page) and have it stamped by An Garda Síochána
- Send the completed motor theft report form to Liberty Insurance
- If your car is recovered, you should contact us immediately and let us know its location

If your certificate of insurance says so, we will also cover you, the policyholder, for your liability to other people while you are driving any other private motor car which you do not own or have not hired under a hire-purchase or lease agreement. Terms and conditions apply.
