European Cover

When you want to get away on a much needed holiday in Europe, attend a semester or a short term work assignment abroad we will extend your cover to the same level you use at home (as shown in your schedule). We provide the minimum cover you need by law to use your car in any EU country or any other country which has made arrangements to meet the minimum insurance requirements of the Commission of the European Union, for up to 93 days. Driving other cars and breakdown assistance do not apply while you are using your car abroad.

What happens if I am involved in an accident?

If you’ve been in an accident, call us, we’re here for you 24/7. Give us the details of what happened and we’ll give you advice every step of the way through your claim.

As well as calling us, you should also follow these steps:

  • Take pictures of the cars at the accident scene
  • Notify An Garda Síochána immediately
  • Note the insurance and contact details of the other parties involved
  • Note the names, addresses and phone numbers of any independent witnesses
  • Do not admit liability

What happens if my car is stolen?

If you realise your vehicle is missing, your first reaction will no doubt be shock. Your second reaction should be to call us to report the incident, we’re here to help 24/7.

You should also follow these steps:

  • Complete a motor theft report form (available at the bottom of this page) and have it stamped by An Garda Síochána
  • Send the completed motor theft report form to Liberty Insurance
  • If your car is recovered, you should contact us immediately and let us know its location
